Now for actual physical content....

Here is what we have at the moment - wIt's pretty rough.

To become a Acolyte:

•  As mystics now seek to work together to pool their knowledge, please demonstrate a basic knowledge of the various schools of magic outside your own to the Mistress.  She will ask you questions to find you sufficiently understand your peers’ areas of expertise so that you can communicate better in your studying

•  Form a relationship with an established mystic within the Tower who can answer any questions you might have, as well as aid you with your training when necessary.  The Adept might request additional tasks of you, but this is not necessary.  You do not need to do extensive adventuring with your mentor but please give them updates of your training progress so they can maintain a level of involvement in your education.  The Mistress or Speaker can help match you with a mentor if you have troubles finding one yourself.

•  Send a letter of your intent to remain in the Tower to the Mistress and take the appropriate oaths.

To become a Adept:

•  Complete one task of the Mistress' choosing, as related to your focused field of study.

•  To demonstrate the value of charity, please collect and donate an item of the Mistress’ choosing to the guild bank.

•  Submit to a test given by the Speak and Mistress to sufficiently display your knowledge and skill in your field of study.

Mistress,

Here are a few additions to the requirements I would like to  suggest be added.

an aspirant/novice should be pointed to an acolyte or adept of their chosen field for training first.  even this is just the basics of things and how the tower works.  if someone of their chosen field can't be found then a long standing mystic in the tower that would know enough about that group should be chosen.  Once the meeting is had where the asspirant/novice will be promoted to acolyte, they should be given to an adept of their chosen field for training in their school.  if one can't be found then the mistress or speaker should find one for the Acolyte.

While an Acolyte, they should continue learning about their field of training and improve.  Their Adept should give them tasks they can accomplish to test their abilities and learning.  These can be anything but should not be severally difficult or super easy.  Once the Adept believe the Acolyte is ready, they should talk with the Acolyte and see if it is their wish to progress further.  When the Acolyte declares their intent to progress further, the Adept should make this known to the Mistress and Speaker, working directly with them to set up the a time to test the Acolyte.  It is my thought that said Adept should be present during this test, but not to participate in any way during the test.

THese are just my thoughts and suggestions

That makes sense,  Sely.   It is a little more detailed than the requirement " Form a relationship with an established mystic within the Tower...".  I believe that what you are talking about is exactly what we should expand this to.  I'd like to have some more input before we change it.

I would like to add two other requirements, with the intent that the player would not have to do all of them and provide a little more variety.  The mentor could put forth tasks that would suit the needs of the person looking to advance.

1) The Blackwards exist to serve as our protectors, but also as a source of practical wisdom that academics may lack.  Seek out a Blackward and train with them or work with one in the accomplishment of a mission for the Tower, and make a report of the wisdom you have learned.

2) Organize or assist in an event which presents the Order to the greater community in a positive light.

Being an order of spell casters, we need to have secret rituals which the members go through before being elevated.   Nothing extreme, but we can make them solemn and fun little events, along the lines of that blackwards event that does not exist.

I would also like to extend this conversation to the other Mystics of all levels.   Most members want to reinvigorate our experience in the guild and I want to hear from the Mystics.   What would be fun for you?  When Little first joined the order as Sylk, I was greatly jealous of the fun things the RP quests she did as she worked up to knighthood.  I would like the Mystic experience to be like that.
