The Gods of the Dragon Realms

The Pantheon of the Dragon Realms is divided into several categories. The Earth and Sky gods are the main deities worshiped by most races. These are followed by the demi-gods of various cults and the Orcs. Along with a brief description of each deity, is a list of typical worshipers, the preferred alignment and domains available to the god’s clerics.

Only the eight primary deities are described at length here, anyone who wishes to play a cleric should chose from this list until the campaign has progressed. All characters are assumed to worhip these eight at appropriate times, although choosing a cult can help provide depth to a character.

The Sky Gods
Saren
Clerics:Any lawful or good, both preferably
Domains: Good, Law, Sun All but the most evil beings pay homage to the Sun Lord. From the Guardians of Light, to priests of the sun, to farmers and nobles, Saren is recognized as the god of law and order and prosperity. His devotees make commonly make vows of poverty and use donations to heal the sick and provide spiritual and martial defense against the many enemies of peaceful settlements. Even among the Hellions, the Light Bringer is worshiped as the source of leadership and life among the gods.

Shalasala
Clerics: any good alignment
Domains: Healing, Good, Luck
Shalasala is the goddess of the Silver Moon, and the source of physical and spiritual healing. She is depicted as a beautiful woman with mirror like silver skin and hair, and deep green eyes, or sometimes as an elf woman. The goddess is worshipped by healers and those in need of healing or forgiveness, as well as anyone who works at night by her light. Shalasala is a goddess of peace and her worship is routine among Burgents and Silver Elves.

Shagrath
Clerics: any lawful
Domains: Destruction, Knowledge, Law
Shagrath is the Lord of the Crimson Moon. He is most often depicted as a tall, severe looking man in crimson robes resembling whatever judges or executioners wear in the area. He is the god of vengeance, justice, and punishment. He is worshipped by anyone who has been wronged and seeks restitution, who must visit his priests and seek the approval of the Crimson One for their plan of action. Shagrath takes most of his worship in prayers at public meetings where crimes are prosecuted and punishment meted out. His priesthood is divided into orders of judges and executioners.

Nemith
Clerics: any chaotic
Domains: Air, Chaos, Trickery
Nemith is the God of the Saphire Moon, the Lord of Chaos, the King of berserkers, drunkards, and thieves. In addition, the skies are his to command and anyone wishing for clear skies or hoping for rain had best make offerings to this unpredictable deity. Nemith is worshiped almost universally as the bringer of wine and other fermented drinks, and so almost any party or revelry is a celebration of Nemith. His priests tend to be very close with their neighbors, entreating the god on their behalf for good weather, helping them survive during hard times, and organizing the party when things improve.

The Earth Gods
Amarydian
Clerics: any good
Domains: Earth, Plants, Healing
Amarydian is the Earth Mother, the planet itself from which all life springs. She is worshipped by mothers and expecting mothers, farmers and cooks. Her festivals are the primary social events among almost all peoples and she is the Queen of the Gods in the lands of the Silver Elves. She is often depicted as a beautiful, pregnant woman, or sometimes as a medusa or a woman surrounded by serpents, who are her sacred servants.

Tenabras
Clerics: any neutral
Domains: Death, Magic, Protection
Tenabras is the Lord of the Underworld, where most souls go when they depart their bodies. His rites are the rites of the dead. He is worshiped to provide safe passage to the departed and also as the keeper of the gateway to the spirit world. Ancestor worship is common in the Dragon Realms, and offerings to Tenabras must be included in any prayers to the departed.

Brugar
Clerics: any lawful
Domains: Fire, Strength, War
Brugar is the Lord of Fire, Strength, Creation and Destruction. Blacksmiths and craftsmen of all kinds pray to Brugar for inspiration and skill. Of course, warriors of all stripes worship Brugar for strength and bravery on the field of battle. Learned religious scholars generally believe that the minor war gods all represent aspects of Brugar, even chaotic Braund who represents the erratic destruction of an angered god. Brugar is chief amongst the gods in the eyes of Dwarves.

Aubray
Clerics: any chaotic or good
Domains: Luck, Plants, Water
Here is the beautiful goddess of spring, luck and rivers. She is the Lady of Secrets, patron of virgins, and bringer of love and hope.
