Summary of 1st Dragon Realms session, Friday, April 13
First we made up the characters. Steve and Chuck rolled five sets of stats using the best three out of four method described in the PH and picked the best one. Then they assigned scores to the abilities and applied racial mods. Gary already had a stack of characters he made with the software that comes with the players handbook. For future reference, more than five rerolls with this software is unnacceptable. Characters with 97 or more rerolls are hardly fair. But it was definitely good for a few laughs.

Gary is playing Talon the Executioner, Lawful Neutral cleric of Shagrath, God of Justice and Vengeance.

Chuck is Lucien Morningstar, a Silver Elf wizard of Chaotic Good alignment.

Steve is Gnauldrec the White, an albino dwarf fighter, also Chaotic Good.

With that part done we embarked on a mini adventure. The PCs were part of a caravan heading for the capitol of Equigonia. But they were diverted to the town of Oakhurst because the capitol was under siege. In Oakhurst, they were hired by a man who had been attacked on the roads the previous night while passing some old ruins. His son was taken away by some sort of small humanoid creatures. Through diligent information gathering, the PCs learned that the ruins are home to a group of Mites, servants of a long dead wizard who once inhabited a keep where the ruins now rest.

The party dutifully marches to the ruins were they are beset by dire rats and a zombie cat (the wizards old familiar). They also locate the entrance to the Mites' underground lair. Descending deep into the ground they find themselves surronded by the half pint, jet black creatures with spears. The Mites demand in unison that the PCs surrender. Yeah, right. During the fight, Gnauldrec smashes three Mites with his big club, Lucien is overwhelmed and taken down, and Talon kills two but is charmed by the Mite shamaness. With their situation looking grim, or at least, a toss up, the PC's finally decide to parley (surrender) to the Mites. They learn that the Mites have turned the missing man into their new king using a magical amulet. The heroes free him by arguing that his disappearance will bring more and more intruders to the Mites' lair because his father is wealthy, and that the Mite Queen doesn't really need a king anyway. The shamaness is thrilled with this prospect and advises the queen to go for it. In addition the MItes bargain to get their fallen members healed, so their numbers will not be so low. In exchange the characters demand that the Mites end the practice of kidnapping people from the roads. Happy endings all around.

Rewards: 500 gp split 3 ways and 300 xp each.

Summary of 2nd Dragon Realms session, Friday and Saturday, May 4-5
With the effects of war spreading throughout Equigonia, the heroes find Oakhurst bustling with activity and new arrivals. A small army of soldiers on their way to the capital has brought a boom in business to the small town. Even so, news of the groups succesful venture to save the merchants son spreads quickly through town. Talon visits and befriends the local priest of Saren, a tinker woman, who helps him with a disease acquired by fighting dire rats.

The party is approached by a wealthy merchant woman with a lot of influence in Oakhurst. She hires them to travel to another, vastly more ancient and dangerous set of ruins known as the sunless citadel. This conversation is overheard and the party is joined by Sean's character:

Larik Crofton, a dwarven theif of neutral alignment.

Then the adventure truly begins. More later....
