The People of the First Kingdom
Izle Branir

GENERAL
The king and Queen of Izle Branir are Reynold and Wynora respectively. The dukedoms follow hereditary lines form the First King's sons.

RELIGIONS

Omenism: Worshipers of Omen, lord of the heavens, guardian of order, creator of the land and father of the people. The state religion of Izle Branir. Solanes Onir was the chosen one.

Ebenor the Traveller: master of the Serpent Earth. Was the primary religion of Izle Branir before Omenism. Followers held that the branir had migrated across the sea long ago and were destined to move on and change. Special individuals called Healers had powers and wisdom to guide people through the rough spots of their journeys.

The Doomsayers: A branch of the Ebenor cult that believes a mighty serpent is coming to swallow the land and that the journey ends in death.

Sara Mi: The name of the world tree according to a group of nature worshippers who pattern their beliefs after Gilthani.

Zane: A very tough, mean and nasty god of war. Sometimes seen by warriors near death, Zane stalks across the battle field ripping the souls from cowards and weaklings. Often prayed to for strength and courage.

Sansonelle: A sea goddess worshipped by fishermen.

THE KNIGHTS OF IZLE BRANIR

The Knights of the Throne: The royal guard of Izle Branir as well as the king's secret service. Very crafty and totally loyal to the throne. No religious affiliations. This is the only order to which one can advance from another order. Occasionally a knight of another order achieves such distinction in service to the crown that he is initiated in to the order of the throne.

The Knights of the Blue Star are housed in Spinecracker keep, so named for its pivotal role in the war with the Nogoth. Spinecracker Keep is now the principle border guard between the kingdom of Izle Branir and the Spinecastle Mountains. These knights are trained to fight at close quarters traditionally because they are still seen as the strength which keeps the nogoth in check. The order has become weaker in the last 50 years or so because of the strengthening relationship between Branir and Nogoth. As such, the old timers are more and more archaic while younger members are exceedingly violent...

The Knights of Ironhammer: A large and exceedingly aggressive and oppressive order which has trouble controlling a population that is becoming more and more used to the existence of the Gilthani and able to deal with threats from the forest themselves.

The Order of the Mountain Guards are mountain rangers who hunt in and keep an eye on the Stormfangs. For the loners and wild types among the branir elite who wish to be knights. The Knights of the Eastern Shield inhabit Towershield keep. These are the strongest, most active order of knights. Towershield keep is almost solely responsible for the protection of the Eastlands from the beasts of the wilderness. It is not uncommon for whole armies of strange creatures to come rushing from the forest to pillage Branir towns and farms. This order has a very heavy turnover rate and is definitely for only the stoutest fighting men and women.

The Knights of the Black Plain occupy Sorrowmourning South. This keep is so named because it was the scene of the final, bloodiest battle between the worshippers of Omen and the followers of Ebenor the Traveller. The Ebenor cult was seen as lewd and corrupt while omenism insists on stoicism, rationality and perseverance. After this battle, Solanes Onir, the chosen one of Omen, vowed that he would never again raise his sword and so, the most pious omenists use only non-lethal forms of combat. However, Solanes also declared that one order of knights be allowed to preserve the religion of Ebenor, so that the beliefs of those who died for them would not be forgotten. Thus, the Knights of the Black Plain are all believers is the Serpent Earth of Ebenor. And they are not necessarily happy with their place in the world...
